Week 1 Life sur le hard

We’re experiencing life on the hard for the first time, various people have said to us ‘Life on the hard est hard!’.

Once you get over the fact you have to scale a high wobbly ladder to get on and off the boat, the lack of water (no where for it to drain to) and the joy of making the pee pee in a bucket (ah the old bucket and chuck it method I hear you say), it ain’t so bad!!

So far we have spent one week on the hard, we all know it will be a different rant in 3 weeks time!!

The Captain has been flat out scraping Stella’s bot and he’s done a jolly good job. Suited and booted in all the gear (bit of a Darth Vadar thing going on when he’s got his mask on) he’s been working away for the last week. Anyone who has ever tackled a boats bottom will know that scraping off the anti-foul is an awful job. He has definitely earned his ‘Bot scraping badge’ with honours. The anti-foul is off and he’s now working on taking off Stella’s stripes. She’s going to get some new go faster ones to go with her new go faster bot!

Now in case your wondering what the shorter crew member on ‘Team Stella’ has been up to whilst the Captain has been soooo busy. Let me tell you that that varnish doesn’t paint itself. I’m currently on coat six and counting in the head (bathroom). I have the very important job of making sure that the Captains caffeine levels are kept at the optimum paint scraping level, not to mention planning new and exciting one pot dinners (we all know that one doesn’t happen). We’ve dined out on Moli a couple of times and as usual ‘Team Moli’ have ticked all the boxes for the perfect evening. Mandy and myself are still going to keep fit classes and have even found ourselves at the classes that start at 08.30hrs (and I do mean the 08.30 in the morning!).

Now I don’t want to alarm you, but this morning the Captain and myself had to pay a visit to Finike’s hospital. The Captain has had a rather odd toe pretty much since we got back. We were going for the ‘if you ignore it, it might get better’ approach. But as that hasn’t worked we had to call on the professionals. The hospital was very good. We paid 15ytl (£6) to see a doctor, and saw one within about 15mins, there was someone there to interpret for us. Although to be honest if they’d just given the offending toe a poke, I think the Captain’s scream would have made the situation clear. They’ve prescribed antibiotics and he has to go back next week. So watch this space for a toe update.

Well I think that’s all our news for now got to go and empty the bucket (you know the one I mean). It doesn’t get much more glamorous than this shipmates.

Love & clean bottoms
