What a day! The boat went in the water at lunchtime it was a fairly calm affair. Our trusty broker (www.pinnacleyachtsale.com) was there to hold our hands and ensure that all went smoothly. We are now in Gouvia marina (Corfu) it’s quite a nice marina with all mod cons. The rest of our day was spent searching through various lockers on the boat to see what goodies we could find. Miles is very happy as he has found lots of tools, we also seem to have a nice selection of inflatable toys (rubber rings, alligators, dolphins etc). There are lots of jobs to do on the boat, so there has been no sunbathing on the decks sipping G&T’s reading a book. Oh no we’ve been sweating it out down below decks cleaning and fixing.

Incident of the day all of a sudden the windlass became active (something to do with the anchor) whilst we were in the marina. Miles started to shout accusations generally asking what I had knocked or touched to make this happen. I was somewhat bemused as at the time I was rummaging in my rucksack and failed to see how this could have set things off. So it was that the peace and tranquillity of Gouvia marina was interrupted by Karen and Miles running up and down their boat trying to A) find out what was happening B) how to stop it. After a short interlude we realised that Miles had in fact knocked a small button in the cockpit and this had set off the whole chain of events.

Your never going to believe this but when Miles did his VHF radio operators course he met a guy who was buying a boat in Greece and sailing to Gouvia marina. They had joked about bumping into each other. Well they have, not only are we in the same marina, we are on the same pontoon. The words ‘small world’ spring to mind!

Our first night on the boat, hope it stays afloat!
