Meeting up with Moli

We travelled back to Zante to meet up with Crew member Marcus who was flying in from the U.K and our friends on Moli (also sailing the dream). To catch up and plan our journey to Crete.

On our way back to Zante we had seen some very dark clouds, which usually mean rain with a smattering of thunder & lightening, although this isn’t ideal we are getting used to such sights. On this occasion the most worrying thing was that on the horizon we could see what could only be described as little twisters! Yes you know the ones that the storm chasers get very excited about. Well we weren’t excited to see them. Captain Miles gave the order to ‘floor it’ and we began our desperate race to try and get away from them. Luckily the wind was actually blowing them away from us. Unluckily the direction that we were heading in was just a black, black seamless sky. Out came the wet weather gear, I dug out life jackets and harnesses (well it’s good to be prepared for the worse, then it usually doesn’t happen).

The twisters turned out to be waterspouts. Although they and the dark skies above looked very threatening the worse that happened was a little bit of rain and some thunder & lightening in the distance. We came into Zante harbour looking like we’d done a leg of a round the world race, clad in wet weather gear, a bit OTT really as it was bright sunshine by this point!

Had a good catch up session with crew of Moli (read into that what you will). Luckily they are far more organised than us and with Captain Ian on the case we actually have a plan for getting to Crete. We still haven’t got charts!! But we do have crew member Marcus on board.
