Went to Benitses.

Our second night on Mourtos quay was a bit calmer. The Gin palace left so no shelter on that side. Late in the evening a rather large yacht carrying a rather large number of Italians turned up to replace our Sunsail yacht from the previous night. It was a bit hectic but with a little help they managed to squeeze into the space. It’s nice to know we’re not the only ones that need help mooring up.

Went for a wander around and found a nice beach, had to walk up a very long hill and down the other side to get there, so needed the swim by the time we arrived. Then when we left the next day we noticed a beach on the other side, much much closer and no big hill!!!

We set off for Benitses (free marina) the reason the marina is free is that it is still being built. We had a very good sail there managed to get 7.2 knots (very scarey). Karen on the helm at this point is not a good idea as she doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing. Just as we were coming into the marina the wind got up (surprise surprise). It was tricky to see what it was like inside and as there were a flotilla of boats coming up fast behind, we felt we had to go for it. (we seem to be doing a lot of that lately). We were all lined up ready to reverse in, when a man on the quay started beckoning us to go in another space, we thought he was trying to help us, turned out he was flotilla leader and needed the space for his boats. After a bit of faffing we got in.

Benitses was quite touristy lots of bars and restaurants, we went for a wander around in the evening, would go there again because of free marina (at the moment).

Motored back to Gouvia. Material man for bimini had arranged to come and see us for a fitting at 8.00am. You’ll never guess what he actually turned up at 8.00am (how novel is that!) He said a time and arrived at that time. We’ve had people turn up days later than they said. He did what had to be done and said cover should be ready tomorrow or Friday (here we go). Still he is a very nice friendly man. So we will stay in the marina until Friday morning. Miles is cleaning the boat and I have spent the last couple of hours updating the blog and sorting photos for our new look website. Have a look at the gallery and let us know what you think.

Well must go now got to collect the laundry (that’s a whole other story, but I won’t bore you with that now).
