Kiparissia to Pylos ( approx 24 nm)

Left Kiparissia at 8.45am and had a fairly good sail for the first part of the journey, although we were followed by some rather ominous looking clouds. Crew member Marcus was still adjusting to life at sea and didn’t surface until the afternoon this was ‘post good sail’. The early start meant we arrived in Pylos at about 3pm.

We went along side, a procedure that on this occasion went without incident. We’re getting there bloggers!! Pilos was a nice little harbour with good shelter. The decision was made to spend two nights here (well you’ve got to have a day off from time to time, even when your sailing the dream).

Captain Miles went for a haircut, he was starting to look quite scary and seadoggish. Ten euros for a wash, cut & product application (very Vidal Sassoon). He returned to the boat lagered up and gelled up!!!

That night crew member Marcus went for his galley badge and cooked us a Spaghetti Bolognaise, very nice it was too. The next evening we wandered around the town and bumped into the Hobbits again. They joined us in a restaurant. We had ordered practically everything on the menu, they just had some lickle ickle Hobbit sized Greek salads. Yes bloggers I know what your thinking the words ‘plot lost the’ are probably springing to mind. But really I’m fine.

Their names were George and Lucio, but we decided to call them Sam and Frodo. They were quite different in character one owned the boat, like to get it heeled over, drank like a fish and spoke zero English. The other had come along for the ride, dressed in pink, didn’t drink much and spoke pocco English.

Mandy from Moli, had taken some pictures of them as they sailed by earlier that day. For a Hobbit boat they couldn’t half go! We had visions of Sam (mad boat owner) wanting to go faster and Frodo (quiet wearer of pink) clinging on for dear life as they heeled on by. She was going to e-mail them the pictures but bless e-mail hasn’t got to Hobbit land yet.

A calm and rested crew on Stella Maris. XXX
