Crossed anchors in Zante.

Nice sail back to Zante our time in Katakolon was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. The weather seems pretty much back to normal. The sun is shining we’re moaning that it’s too hot etc etc.

We moored alongside a nice Dutch couple who mentioned that they were leaving the next day, and that we may possibly be over their anchor. Surely not we thought, ours is there, yours must be there. It was at this point that they explained theirs was not in a straight line. Should be interesting!!

We got up when they were leaving just in case there was a problem, good job we did. First their dinghy got stuck on our anchor and they had to cut the painter (rope) to move it. At this point they decided to floor it, not realising they were over our anchor, OT OH I think they call it prop wrap!!

There followed a few moments of silence while we all took in the situation. The Dutch struggled to sort themselves out with Miles giving them slack on our anchor. We had our engine going just incase we started heading back to the quay. It was all quite exciting really!!!

There was nothing for it, Captain Miles had to row out in the dinghy (yes it’s still up). He had to pull up our anchor and chain, take the anchor off of the chain to release their chain (are you following this?). It all got sorted in the end and both boats were still in tact although, Captain Miles was a tad muddy!
