Diesel Engine & Day Skipper

Well it’s been a while since I last wrote. Here’s a quick note just to let you know what we’ve been up to. Miles has done a diesel engine course, so he’s now an authority on impeller pumps! (don’t ask me). I spent a week in a porter cabin with two men (at least 20 years my senior only one of them had a beard) learning about ‘rules of the road’, ‘safety at sea’ and a number of other very important things that every good day skipper should know. The course wasn’t a total success, Although I did learn a lot I now know that two black balls with a diamond between them hoisted up on a mast indicates that said vessel is having difficulty with manoeuvrability, having said that it might be best not to ask me to plot a course from A to B as we may well end up at C!
More news soon Karen X

P.S Did you know that 3 black balls hoisted up the mast means it’s all gone a bit wrong (total balls up to be precise). Better get the black balls ready!
