Zante & Keri

Well we had dinner with my parents on the boat. Sea dog cooked his signature dish of corned beef hash, which was enjoyed by all. Mrs W, you will be in for a treat when he comes home!

The next day Miles, myself and sea dog left Zante town and went off to Keri a small harbour on Zante island. It was very nice here much quieter than the main town. We spent two nights there then yesterday my parents got a taxi over to Keri and sailed back to Zante town with us.

Now for those of you who know my parents this may come as somewhat of a surprise. It certainly did to me, I knew they would come on the boat but didn’t think they would be up for coming for a sail. My mother isn’t to bad on boats, but I don’t think she has been on one like ours before. My father, well my father has no sea legs whatsoever, sitting in the harbour could make him feel a bit queasy.

So hats off to both of them!! The first phase of the journey was to get them on the boat, what’s the problem I hear you ask? Well, I’ll tell you, when we were in Keri we were actually at anchor. There would be no coming aboard by ladder, Oh no, first they would have to negotiate a dinghy ride out to the boat with oarsman Miles. Then they would have to clamber up our rickety ladder onto the boat. I for one was not sure that phase one would be completed without incident!

I am pleased to say that I under estimated their abilities and with really no effort at all they came aboard Stella Maris. The three hour journey back to Zante town was good. We had a mixture of winds and seas, some of which left my father feeling a bit green!! I think my mother enjoyed it and would be up for another sail. When we moored up in Zante, my father was quite keen to get off the boat. He cannot for the life of him understand how we can enjoy this ‘sailing the dream’ malarky. But you know what ‘different folks different strokes’. Just as well really otherwise every Tom, Dick and Jolly Roger would be sailing the dream! The med would be like the Solent too darn busy!!

Later that evening we had the luxury of another hot shower (Ambassador, you are spoiling us) courtesy of my parents. Then we all went for a farewell meal. Everyone agreed (apart from father who was still feeling green) that it had been a jolly good day, in fact a jolly good week (think father enjoyed the week).

My parents left for the airport at 11.00am this morning, it is now 7.00pm and we have just had a text from them saying they are now in the departure lounge, so they may make it home at some point today!

We now await the arrival of our friend Linda, who is due in this evening. She is flying standby so fingers crossed she gets on the flight.

Adios for now blog readers Capitan Miles, Chef Hash de corned beouf & Karen XXX
