What have we done!

We’ve had more farewells than someone who has had a lot! (couldn’t think of anything witty to write)This morning at 5.00am BST a rather bedraggled looking Miles and Karen boarded Freedom flights FM4104 (rather apt). The journey itself was not without adventure, our ride to the airport failed to turn up so at 1.30am Mr Whiteley senior was dragged from his bed to drive us (Big thank you!). We checked in and waited with baited breath as we were slightly over on our luggage allowance (we’d had a weigh in a home) the people next to us were getting a right roasting about having too much luggage, luckily for us our checkin person was half a sleep and didn’t bat an eyelid when we started to pile all our worldly goods onto scales that just went up and up and up. Those ‘how to sail books’ weigh a ton!

For the past couple of days we have been saying our farewells to friends and family. There have been many long drawn out silences between Miles and myself (no we haven’t had a row, we’re saving that for the boat). It is just starting to dawn on us what we are actually doing. Well we’re not sure what we’re doing and there in lies the problem.

Are you on the boat we hear you ask? Not exactly is the reply. The boat is in a yard having some work done to get her ship shape. Launch date is due to be tomorrow. Now here’s the thing in Greece they do things a little bit differently than in old Blighty. They put you on the boat then plonk you in the water. You start the engine and hope for the best (fingers crossed the engine starts). We think our boat is being launched tomorrow with us on it! But this is Greece and they do work on GMT (Greek Maybe Time). So we’ll just have to wait and see we are in a hotel at the moment, this I could get used to!

Will let you know how we get on.
