Preveza

Well we survived the night, there was a jolt at about two in the morning, but it turned out to be nothing, just the anchor pulling.

After a somewhat restless night we made an early start for Preveza (early in our book is 10.45am). Our longest trip so far it was about 35 miles away.

The wind and sea were favorable and we had a good fast sail, at times we hit 9 knotts, this was for a split second as we surfed down a wave. Getting the main sail down was interesting, Miles clipped himself on as we headed straight into the big windy waves.

Sail down, we commenced our entrance into Preveza, you may feel we are blowing our own trumpets, but I can say with some confidence that our mooring up on this occasion was ‘textbook’. There was no shouting, no one on shore to help and we managed to squeeze ourselves into a perfect spot without incidence. We stepped off onto land for the first time in 30 hours. Terra firma felt good!

Preveza is quite a bustling place down on the quayside, lots of very trendy looking bars. Our neighbour a rather nice Italian, (boat called Bonaventura, Bavaria 49) cooked us a pasta lunch today that was molto bene !! He has been using our boat to get on and off the quay. From what we can gather he is on holiday on his own, he has made friends with a Cheq lady (who also had pasta with us today). We think we may be going into an inland gulf, just off of Preveza with him and his lady friend tomorrow!! We also met a lovely Austrailian couple with a gorgeous 57 foot Beneateau, we helped them in to moor up, (just caught their lines and then passed them back). They invited us around for a drink, so we went and had a look at their luxury boat. Their aft cabin is as big as all our cabins put together. They have a generator, water maker and washing machine onboard as well as lots of other lovely bits and bobs.

Love & big boats Karen & Miles XXX
